I met General Weyand my last day in Vietnam Sept 25, 1972 and we became friends over the years. He was a great, great man, a soldier, a humanitarian, a family man and a fine musician. Sadly General Weyand passed away on Feb 10, 2010. Rest in Peace General.

Center stage in The Association
  Center stage in The Association
In the mid 1970s I was in top vocal group The Association, singing, playing guitar and harp. I learned my parts singing a capella in the car as we drove across the USA. Hits included Cherish, Windy, Along Comes Mary. I am honored to have had that wonderful musical experience.

Tony was my bassist around 1969-1970 playing casuals all over the South Bay California. We were also in the El Camino College stage band together. He's been Bob Dylan's bassist/musical director since 1989. Charlie Sexton was on guitar in 2001 when they toured Tokyo.

Art Pepper, Jimmy Smith, Tommy Gumina and Gary Michaels
Art Pepper, Jimmy Smith, Tommy Gumina and Gary Michaels
I played with these jazz giants for two years in the early '70s. I also studied polytonal jazz theory with Tommy Gumina, who's the founder of Polytone Amps. One of my greatest joys in life was when Art once said I was sounding pretty good those days, and that he'd consider using me on one of his next recordings.
